I have been involved in advertising and promotion for brands that enrich daily life, such as apparel, perfumes, furniture, home appliances, and hotels. I work together with brands to create the goals they aim for, and propose the execution and improvement of necessary measures. I think about what to communicate and turn that into something actionable. That’s where I feel I can make the most of my experience.
Work Ethic
Please tell us about the standards and ways of interacting that you value in your daily work.
Ryozuke Suzuki
At the start, I try to clarify together what we consider a result. Whether we want people to know about something, or to lead them to purchase or make a reservation, the necessary measures will differ. First, we share the goal within the team in high resolution, and then decide the path forward. After that, I look at the available materials, budget, and the structure of the people involved to decide where to start. I check whether what we’re communicating in ads and landing pages is consistent, and whether we have all the information needed for the next improvement. While confirming these things, I decide the order in which to tackle them. I make sure the scope and roles entrusted to me are clear, and after seeing the results, I consider the next steps. I value this accumulation of efforts.
Origin
Please tell us about an experience that forms the foundation of your current way of thinking and interacting.
Ryozuke Suzuki
When I was involved in creating seasonal visuals for an apparel brand, I once saw someone wearing the clothes we featured, walking in the city. Seeing that person walking with a bright expression made me think, “I’m glad I do this job.” It was a project where I shared the same vision as the brand and could propose initiatives, so I felt a strong attachment to it. Realizing that the work I was involved in reached someone’s daily life made me very happy. Even when supporting hotel customer acquisition, I felt the same sense of fulfillment in delivering untapped appeal through words and visuals. If my involvement can have even a small positive impact on someone somewhere, I’m happy. That feeling is the foundation of my current work.
Turning Point
Please tell us about a situation where you felt your way of thinking or behavior changed compared to before.
Ryozuke Suzuki
In the past, even if my thinking differed from those around me, I sometimes thought, “If I take action, things will work out.” Now, in addition to acting myself, I feel it’s also important to create an environment where everyone can act easily. Each person in charge of production or operations has their own strengths. While listening to their ideas, I clarify what we’re aiming for and what to prioritize. I’ve come to value that kind of involvement. I try to distinguish between what I should handle and what I should delegate, and focus on moving forward as a team.
Life
How do you spend your time outside of work or on your days off?
Ryozuke Suzuki
I research furniture, interiors, and the history of buildings, and walk around looking at city architecture. While spending time in restaurants and hotels, I observe and experience why people choose those places. When I find a place that interests me, I sometimes wonder, “Why does it feel so comfortable?” I enjoy seeing and experiencing for myself the qualities of a place that are hard to quantify or put into words.
Future
Are there any themes you want to naturally engage with or face in the future?
Ryozuke Suzuki
There are good things out there whose value isn’t yet fully known. I want to keep finding such things and helping more people discover them. I’m always drawn to products close to daily life and comfortable spaces, both in work and personally. If the promotions I’m involved in become more liked by people and have even a small positive impact on their lives, I’d be very happy. While making use of my experience in advertising and promotion, I want to increase the work where I can be continuously involved—from how products and services are chosen to how they grow afterward.
