I've always been drawn to music and art. I especially enjoyed browsing music album covers at Tsutaya (a Japanese record store) and buying albums based on the cover art alone. I was naturally drawn to visually appealing things like posters and paintings. I think my interest in visual beauty and design has continued ever since. That sensibility is still connected to my current work.

Previously, I focused on how to create highly original designs, but recently I've started listening more to what people have to say. I've had more opportunities to conduct user interviews on projects, and I've come to realize that a product only has meaning if it's communicated to and used by users. My thinking has shifted; simply expressing something isn't art; its value lies in its actual use. Now I'm conscious of finding that balance.

I now live in Utrecht, so I enjoy taking walks around the city, cycling to parks to read books, and taking pictures. Away from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, I have more time to relax and reflect on myself. I feel this daily rhythm is having a positive impact on my work.

I want to use the power of design to create places where people can gather. Especially in this digital age, I want to create places where people can feel the strength of the chemical reactions that come from natural encounters. I want to be involved not only in product design, but also in event and space design itself. I want to work with people who can have open and unbiased discussions, who value individuals, and who believe in the potential of the team.
