What do you usually keep in mind when making music or working on songs?
Kishin Baba
When I write songs, I first choose music or artists I like as references. While thinking about what kind of song I want to create, I decide on the albums or artists to use as references and internalize that image. By doing so, the direction of the song naturally becomes clear, and even when I'm unsure, having a reference helps me stay grounded.

Is there an experience that became the foundation of your current musical perspective or style?
Kishin Baba
When I was a child, foreign music like The Beatles often played in the car. I was especially influenced by UK rock as I grew up. Back when it was hard to listen to music samples at TSUTAYA, I would choose CDs based solely on the impression of the jacket, and I think that intuitive selection became the basis of my musical experience. Those experiences are connected to how I choose and approach music today.

Has your way of thinking or feeling changed as you continued your music activities?
Kishin Baba
I used to think that if I just made the music I wanted to make, people would naturally accept it. But as I played more live shows and saw fan reactions, I started to become more conscious not only of what I wanted to do, but also of making music that would be accepted. I feel that this has broadened my range of ideas. Now, I try to keep that balance in mind when writing songs.

How do you spend your time outside of creating music?
Kishin Baba
I try to go outside as much as possible, walking around the city or in parks. By talking with people and experiencing various things, I often get inspiration for how to express or present my music. I think the stimulation I get from everyday life naturally gets reflected in my music as well.

What do you want to focus on going forward?
Kishin Baba
From now on, I want to improve my performance skills so I can deliver one-of-a-kind experiences to fans. I want to cherish the atmosphere and moments that can only be felt at live shows even more.
